Purpose

Through a partnership with experiential art masters Meow Wolf, the UCF/Meow Wolf Writers Workshop imparted the unique storytelling tenets of Meow Wolf installations and gave students the opportunity to try their hand at their own narrative universe. At the conclusion of the workshop, I and another fellow student were selected to visit the Story Team at Meow Wolf’s corporate offices in Santa Fe, NM.

Prompt

Create a concept for an immersive experience along with a 5-minute presentation, including an overarching premise and narrative spaces.

Eureka! Inc. Visitor Access Card Design

Story + Concept

Through ritualistic “creative brainstorms” inspired by the works of a mystical self-help author, a coven of Eureka employees produced wormholes that connect the cubicle-filled office space to worlds and dimensions beyond. Visitors can follow the bread crumbs left behind by Eureka employees and learn about the alluring Author, whose passion for enlightening an uninspired populace may stem from a more selfish desire.

The Wormholes

  • Metro Hellscape: Neon-filled, street art-covered urban landscape where apartments rent by hour and every restaurant is a subscription.

  • Arctic Paradise: A formerly icy terrain where melting glaciers make for the best black-sand beach vacation spot.

  • CorporateFunWorld: Phantasmagoric playscape where the galaxy goes to get away.

  • Smalltown, Mars: Where space travel meets small town life.

  • The Conference Room: Video images and messages from across the universe-connecting Astralnet litter the massive screens in this large event space connecting the Wormholes.

Rights & Ownership

The above encompasses an original concept by its sole author. However, as part of the workshop, the author acknowledged and continues to acknowledge that Meow Wolf may coincidentally craft artworks, build exhibits or present any other artworks in the future that may share similar ideas, themes, or other creative similarities to those of the above author’s concept.
